Geography, Babies and the EU Those were topics covered in my class this morning. Oh just wait until I give you my take on what was said. Geography was boring, something about climates and mountains. Then his little red dot laser broke and we all had to wait for him to fix it. Dark room + 8:30 in the morning = Don't make us wait...sleep is calling. Anyway, on to the more interesting topics.

Babies The population problems of Europe aren't the most exciting thing to take about, but then he mentioned Sweden. He spoke of cash payments, tax incentives and the other generous rewards the government gives you to have a child there. Did he mention the "national nookie shortage" battle tactics? No, would have made the class too interesting.

Where is NOW? So in the discussion of the low birthrates of European nations, the professor found it interesting that in an 8 page summary of a study done about the problem, there were no interviews with men mentioned. He made the comment that it takes two to make a baby, so wouldn't it be interesting to get the male perspective. Not even a second passed before we got the men oppressing women speech from a student. And I quote, "Women are always covered negatively, but men are always portrayed positively. We don't need their input." What the f*ck was that about? I think she meant the media representation of genders, but what the American media has to do with a summary of a study on European birthrates published by the group that did the damn survey, I will never know. The Angry Clam and I were talking last night, and he told me that based on his experience at Berkeley, Thursdays are good days to have a protest. Maybe on my way to my next class I'll see her leading a rally or something.

Penis envy at the EU? Maybe my poor little mind is in the gutter, but what do you think of when you hear this statement regarding the creation of the EU? "The rise of Russia, the rise of the United States. Suddenly, they felt insignificant as the smallest partner."
