:: Friday, November 29, 2002 :: Holiday Season First I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season, whether you will soon be celebrating Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza, or any of the other holidays I probably don't know of. I just want to relate an interesting story of something Bitter and I saw yesterday. So we were driving through one of the neighboring towns waiting for the next showing time of the requisite after-Thanksgiving-dinner movie. Well, as we're driving by the town common, we see a banner over the road. Now, this is Thanksgiving Day, so maybe you would expect to see something along the lines of "Happy Thanksgiving", but no, not here. This banner reads "Happy Ramadan." Added to that we had just been talking about that in this area, it seems to be "politically correct" to dislike Jews. Well, apparently, I'm very unPC (as if I didn't know this already). I would still like to know why that banner was hanging and not one that read "Happy Thanksgiving" (or for those of you who are politically correct "Happy Turkey Day"), after all Thanksgiving is a national holiday, Ramadan... not so much.
