Covering Her Tracks I know you all heard about the Ohio representative that compared terrorist activity by religious fundamentalists to the American Revolution. If you didn't, you can read about it here in the article where she tries to cover her ass by accusing Republicans of twisting her words.
"If you think back to our founding as a country, we are a country of revolution," Kaptur told the Toledo Blade. "One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation-state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind of atypical revolutionaries that helped to cast off the British crown."
...
Kaptur responded in a statement that Republicans had "chosen to twist my words."
"My comments were intended to point out that what faces us is a rising revolution being felt across repressive regimes of the Arab and Islamic world," she said. "The American people understand the power of revolution. It is in that context that I referred to the American Revolution."
Now maybe I don't get something, but she's either saying that the revolutions are being felt by the repressive regimes or that the repressive regimes are committing the "revolutions." If she's saying that the revolutions are against the repressive regimes then why the hell are they trying to kill us and other nations that allow basic freedoms? Her argument doesn't stand because we didn't go and attack France because the Brits were oppressing us. If she is saying that the "rising revolution being feft across repressive regimes" is about the governments going against us (we're nasty imperialists, remember?) then how the hell can a fight for freedom of the people by the people be compared to the fight for the freedom to oppress by a murderous dictator? I'm so confused. Maybe the fall yesterday hurt my head in ways I haven't figured out yet.

If you aren't a fan of her remarks and live in Ohio's 9th district, here's her contact information. :)
