Time for a new blog host. Have suggestions?

It's important I'm able to host about a dozen domains on the same account. None of the other sites are particularly large other than thebitchgirls.us, but I want them up without getting separate accounts.

Happy Birthday!

I tried to comment, but couldn't. So I'll just wish Countertop a very happy 35th here. (Why on the Blogspot site? Because Dreamhost has been down or painfully slow all morning.)

Looking Like A Cover-Up...
Just sayin that a secret private conference call certainly has the appearances of something fishy going on. This is probably not a good sign for the GOP.

When you send something through a UPS store, you cannot track that item on ups.com. This makes little sense to me.

I'm Confused...

How do stores like Christie's Toy Box stay in business in Texas then?
The Supreme Court refused Monday to consider whether a Texas law making it a crime to promote sex toys shaped like sexual organs is unconstitutional.

An adult bookstore employee in El Paso, Texas, sued the state after his arrest for showing two undercover officers a device shaped like a penis and telling the female officer the device would arouse and gratify her.

The employee, Ignacio Sergio Acosta, says a Texas law outlawing the manufacture, marketing or dissemination of an "obscene device" including those shaped like sex organs is unconstitutional because it prevents individuals from using such devices, violating their right to sexual privacy.

Colorado, Kansas and Louisiana have held such laws unconstitutional, while Georgia, Mississippi and Texas have upheld them, said Acosta's lawyer in urging the Supreme Court to take the case.

An El Paso County court granted Acosta's motion to dismiss a criminal complaint against him, but an appeals court reinstated it, saying the Texas law did not infringe on private sexual behavior.

He's Missing A Buddy...
Bruce points to the toy everyone needs this holiday season, Dashboard Mohammed.

But I'll be honest. I think he's missing something. He needs a buddy up on the dashboard so he's not all alone. Like maybe the Buddy Christ!

Great. I'm so ready for November. This place just keeps getting weirder.
Saying he was "deeply sorry," Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) resigned from Congress today, hours after ABC News questioned him about sexually explicit internet messages with current and former congressional pages under the age of 18.

A spokesman for Foley, the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, said the congressman submitted his resignation in a letter late this afternoon to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

Oh how I LOVE it! If you're in the market for a wedding cake topper, Manolo for the Brides points to this website where you can order custom toppers. Random? Yes. But look at this!

Gun toppers! I love them! I need a gun wedding cake topper! I don't care if I'm not getting married at this point, I need one anyway. So what if a couple starts at $2300.

Here are few random other ones with commentary.

I think that girl was a stripper and she met her husand at strip club. Otherwise I can't really figure out why he would have a large wad of $20s and stuffing them in her garter.

Cheesy. Like a fairytale. How cute. I have to admit, though it almost sends me into sugar shock, it is adorable.

Anyone in need of a Virginia Tech themed cake topper? I'm looking at you Virginia Tech fan neighbor.

The boys are talking about what women really mean when we say some things. I try to be pretty clear about what I want to say. Those times when I do play those games are usually only times when I know I'll get over it and it's no big deal. However, it is also good advice for men to learn to read facial expressions as those usually indicate when "do whatever the f*ck you want" and "fine" don't really mean what you think they mean.

It's all about balance. I find the article Drudge linked to about Hillary attacking Dean for not raising cash interesting. In particular:
Many Democrats, including Clinton advisers, are frustrated with Dean's "50-state strategy," which accentuates grassroots organizing at the expense of election-specific cash-grabbing.

If they don't have the people on the ground to turn up and vote, then all the cash in the world won't make a difference. I don't know why people forget that during elections and while debating campaign finance. When it comes down to it, it's all about what name the people punch on the screen.

The server is being painfully slow... I was trying to ad BlogAds and I can't because of the slow speed.

I'd like to thank Stacy for coming over here and helping me haul a huge ass television in the apartment. So now I have tv in both my bedroom and the living room. This will make getting ready much, much easier in the mornings when I can turn on my tv after the alarm goes off so that I can't fall asleep again.

I was going to do some serious feminist blogging tonight but I'm just not in the mood since Dreamhost is acting up again.

Does something sound very wrong with this?
Rare, mother-of-pearl coloured clouds caused by extreme weather conditions above Antarctica are a possible indication of global warming, Australian scientists have announced. ...
The clouds can only form in temperatures lower than minus 80 degrees Celsius (minus 112 Fahrenheit). Meteorologist Renae Baker who photographed the clouds, said a weather balloon sent up about 12 miles above the Earth's surface measured temperatures as low as minus 87 Centigrade (minus 124.6 F).

For the record:

I bought a Schick Quattro for Women the other day. This morning, I pulled it out of the plastic as I was rushing to get dressed to take care of the underarms quickly. That thing is amazing. I actually noticed better results in fewer swipes of the blade. Very happy. Let's see how it tackles my legs tonight.

I also intend to do a full post on wonder that is the Remington Trim & Shape. Best $20 I ever spent. It was to replace this older model of Trim & Shape that had far fewer heads. Good head(s) is (are) hard to find. (Believe me when I say I could not stop myself from that awful joke.) The old one also didn't survive the fall into the toilet. Oops. But I did get an enormously huge laugh out of watching it buzzzzzz under the water.

Why does it cost only $15 less for a Brazilian wax than to get the entire length of both legs waxed? It's a much smaller area and takes far less time. Granted, I have not had the entire length of both legs waxed, so I don't actually know how long it takes. However, having had other areas of the body waxed, I can make very educated guesses on this matter. But it is a smaller area so they use far less product. I'm not saying it should be a cheap as say getting the eyebrows done, but it shouldn't be nearly as much. And please don't argue that it's because the waxing chick has to look at areas she probably doesn't want to see because it's far more em-bare-assing to be the one actually getting waxed and having to get into all sorts of awkward positions to have the work done if it's a true Brazilian. At least I'm assuming...not that I would know.

I need to find a new place to get my eyebrows done. The last two times I've gone it was after periods where I was very busy with work and didn't have time to get to the salon. I keep them under somewhat reasonable control between visits, so it's not like I'm looking like Cousin It from the forehead down or anything. But the woman made fun of me the last couple of times, making cracks about how I obviously haven't been in a while. That and the bitch told me to try threading once. How fucking painful! I was in tears it hurt so bad.

That wraps up this edition of For the Record: Female Body Hair Issues. I'm sure you boys learned far more than you ever hoped to know about women and their body hair concerns.

I've tried to pass word along that I'm blogging over here for now. I doubt most people know. But oh well, what can you do?

I'm actually going to stop for tonight and possibly in the morning because the longer I'm looking at the Blogger homepage, the angrier I become over this issue. If they would even acknowledge my support tickets, I would be irritated, but not ready to bail. At this point, it would take a miracle to make me stay. It's the lack of customer service that's the problem in this case. When you can't keep your servers up throughout even one day, I'd say it's time to bring in extra help to cover the phones so-to-speak when customers want to know what the fuck is going on. I got a lot of space for relatively little, but I think I'd rather give up the perks and have the service.

Closing in on 20 hours with not even a note to say, "We got your request and are looking into it. Thanks for putting up with our shitty service as of late." I put in a 2nd request nearly 6 hours ago that they are also ignoring. I'm glad to know that listing something as a big fucking problem and explaining that the lack of the communication is my biggest beef still generates absolutely no attention from Dreamhost.

If I don't have a huge fucking apology or solution in my inbox by the time I wake up in the morning, I'm finding a new host. This is bullshit to have this many problems in such a short amount of time and not put extra tech support folks on to handle the volume of customer issues.

I was patient while they had more than 700 help tickets, but I've watched hundreds get resolved over the course of the day and noticed the number drop steadily. Amazingly, they can't be bothered to include mine in that. You'd think that being considered a "new" customer on my own account, they'd give a damn about looking like they have halfway reasonable customer service.

Hey, it gave me a laugh this Sunday evening. But maybe that says more about my mood than anything.
KFYE-FM hasn't budged from the Fresno-area dial, but it's about as far as you can get from the Christian music, sermons and Bible stories it was broadcasting until about a week ago.

Now it calls itself "Porn Radio" — "all sex radio, all the time," with a suggestion that people under 21 not listen.

Songs with little in common except suggestive titles and lyrics fill the playlist, including "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" by The Beatles, "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye and "Nasty" by Janet Jackson. Tamer songs are heated up by adding recorded moans and groans.

How typically female that I actually think I might consider stopping by this exhibit.
A new exhibit opened on July 13, 2006 in the Department of Commerce's U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Museum. “Shoes: Innovations at Your Feet” highlights shoe technology past and present. Visitors to the museum can learn the history of patented footwear, view stylish innovations, and see how people customize their shoes for work. The exhibit is an entertaining view of all kinds of footwear that incorporates 19 th century models of patented inventions as well as recent accomplishments of today's footwear industry, especially many brands in the areas of children's shoes, work shoes, comfort and fashion.

Well, I don't blame them. They created the monster.
About 40 lawyers from across the country have signed up for the National Lawyers on Longboards Surfing Contest scheduled during the Aug. 3-8 American Bar Association convention in Honolulu.

But the ABA has pulled out of sponsoring the surfing competition. The event organizer says the lawyers are afraid of being sued. ...

“It’s really funny - the ABA won’t officially sponsor it for liability reasons,” said Lea Hong, a Honolulu environmental lawyer and surfer. ...

About 10,700 lawyers in all will be in Honolulu for the ABA conference.

I think this is a complete waste of money.
Mobile Voter, a San Francisco based not-for-profit, has started a voter registration drive program through text messaging called Txtvoter. The program, which is intended to register younger voters, was done with grants from GWU’s Young Voter Strategies and the Pew Charitable Trust. Oh yeah, and it’s pretty much free.

Here’s how it works: Mobile phone users can text the word “voter” to short code address 75444 and answer a series of questions via text message to complete the voter application process. A few weeks later, a completed voter registration form arrives at their doorstep. The user just needs to sign it, date it and send it back. Mobile Voter, for better or worse, keeps track of the mobile user every step of the way. If they see you haven’t finished the registration process, they will send you a text message reminder. They even have “planet coding” on the snail mail envelopes to see when your voter registration is sent back in the mail. The final step? Txtvoter will send you an email on Election Day remind you to vote and where your precinct location is.
I can't imagine it would have any influence over people who weren't inclined to vote anyway. Maybe it might remind people about small local elections, but then you'll have more voters who are uneducated on the issues or candidates. I don't know that it's a good thing. But for larger elections, come on.

Hey, at least they won't kill her for it like Miss Indonesia.
The winner of a planned Miss Cambodia beauty pageant may have to take a crash course in swimsuit posing if she competes abroad.

The government has ruled out skimpy attire in contests at home, organizers said Friday.

The country will hold its first Miss Cambodia competition in more than a decade starting in September, with the final to be held three months later, said Kem Tola, marketing manager for Planet Communication Ltd., a Cambodian events management company.
(I would provide a link to my coverage of the Miss Indonesia thing, but since Dreamhost is being a bitch right now...not possible.

Fun times in Texas!
As officials attempt to crack down on rowdy behavior during traditional summertime tubing river trips through the city, a San Antonio topless club is planning a tubing excursion featuring strippers.

Trey Maddox, a manager at Palace Men’s Club, said Sunday’s excursion - during which men can pay $25 to join the strippers - isn’t meant to fly in the face of the city’s new rules.

“We’re not hookers, dope dealers or Mafia thugs,” he said, noting that the strippers will be appropriately dressed. “We’re just coming to have a good time.”
That's a nice little summer promotion. Of course, being Texas, someone is always willing to rain on their parade.
City Councilman Ken Valentine isn’t so sure.

“I’m really disappointed that this is going to occur on Sunday, when people should be in church,” he said. “I hope they behave themselves and keep their clothes on, but I’m not sure they will because strippers are trained to take off their clothes.”
I'm not so sure that Ken Valentine will ever be able to stop being an asshole because that's what he's trained to do. I'm so glad that this government official is making public statements telling citizens they need to be in church praticing a religion. Not that he'd prefer they were in church based on his beliefs, but that they should be there.

Pissy this morning. Dreamhost has been down since around 2am. I emailed the "monitor" for my site with the Blogathon and didn't hear back until I started bugging again around 6am. Anyway, I don't know if I'm getting credited with coming back online via this method or not since I was off for so long even though I couldn't get answers to my question about how to handle it. I'll upload the gun porn for you guys that was meant for the overnight hours.
